There's a lot of fancy presentation and options to play with, but at the end of the day, the game is really just about skiing down a lot of very similar looking slopes, and little else. Although there's clearly a lot of effort gone into producing this, it's a bit hard to fathom why anyone would go to the bother of it all. In the career mode the player creates his own athlete who starts in the amateur league. The handling is quite simple: the player uses the mouse to hold a steady course and clicks at the right moment to jump respectively land. Apart from these changes, this is very much a standard ski jumper, where you must line yourself up, then hurl yourself down a slope with the simple intention of making it as far as possible. This one also offers numerous additions over its predecessors, like hundreds of lines of commentary, tweaks to the physics system, a new training mode, sponsorship deals and the option to jump in first person mode, as well as a quiz mode. Here at least you do have a couple of main modes to choose from, these offering you the chance to play as a manager or a young and coming ski jumper. This one is pretty standard for the genre, but unless you're a die hard fan of the sport, you're probably better off with multi-event winter sports games like Salt Lake 2002. ![]() It's a bit of a weird one, as none of the games offer a great deal of variation while the simple act of ski jumping is one is pretty limited and doesn't exactly translate well into long term gameplay. It's hard to believe, but there are a number of ski jumping simulators out on the market, including the popular Ski Jumping franchise. ![]()
